Synopsis
At Valvert, a hospital dedicated to mental health in Marseille, carers and patients have been talking for over a year about how to make less use of isolation rooms, or even do away with them.
How do you deal with crises? How do you prevent them? How can we contain without coercion and receive a traveller who no longer belongs?
As an extension of these reflections, a small group of patients hold conversations in the isolation room and embark on an investigation into the notion of hospitality from a hospital setting where the question is how to welcome without confining.
Julianne, Djamel, Fabienne and Laurent pass through the doors of Valvert to continue their investigation in the city.
Along the way, they talk to a caretaker, researchers in the human sciences, a solidarity host and a psychiatrist, with whom they try to explore the crisis of hospitality facing psychiatric institutions and, more broadly, the society in which we live.
