Synopsis

In 2014, Elaheh was the only Iranian woman selected to take part in Mars One, a project proposing to settle on the Red Planet. For several years, I filmed Elaheh as she prepared to leave Earth, despite financial difficulties and sometimes hostile criticism. Day after day, Elaheh recorded snippets of her daily life, creating a sort of memory capsule of her experience on Earth. In 2021, the Mars One project is finally abandoned. Elaheh then commits herself to another ideal: the emancipation of Iranian women. Filmed over a decade, in a country on the brink of chaos, the film captures the youthful vigour of Elaheh as she pursues her dream of a better world, here or elsewhere.
