Synopsis

Five resigning civil servants are gradually brought together in an abandoned hospital. As they move in, they reflect on why they once enjoyed working but have now left. The police officer undergoing retraining, the emergency doctor now working in private practice, the teacher, the letter carrier and the former judge talk about the effects the dismantling of public service has had on their lives. Their presence illuminates this ruined setting, infusing it with poetry and fiction.
